It seems like some of the Seniors Event players have somewhere to be on a Sunday afternoon. Or they really want to run up a stack.
There were five tables remaining at the last break and less than a level later they on on the verge of breaking down to the last three. We have 31 still in the game but, despite the pace of play, we probably won’t see them hit the money bubble before the dinner break.

The color up break is over and we found our Seniors Event leader. Borgata regular Angel Pagan is far and away the top stacked player with 341,000 while only a handful of others reached 200K. He’s in great position as the tournament nears the last four tables.
Pagan has a couple deep runs but his biggest cashes came in Las Vegas during the WSOP. His top payout was in 2013 when he finished 15th out of 1,837 in the $1,000 NLH WSOP Event 7 for more than $13,000.

Rick Austin is still a bit steamed about how it ended three weeks ago, but his 5th place finish in the World Series of Poker Super Seniors (60+) event is an impressive feat. Just making the final table out of a field of 2,650 players is quite an accomplishment.
He got his last chips in with the best of it, but fell prey to a three-outer on the river. Collecting more than $89,000 for 5th place is a nice consolation prize!

Seniors are back from their second break and registration is closed with 180 entrants.
Barry Leventhal is definitely the one to beat in this event. He’s the defending champion, having won this event last summer. He’s got a total of four Seniors event wins and eight total titles, all won here at Borgata. At this summer’s World Series of Poker, Barry cashed in the Seniors event, finishing 82nd out of 5,917 entrants for nearly $6,000.
If Barry is a little tired, it’s excused. He played the $500 Super Survivor last night and cashed his $5,000 prize at 5 this morning.
He’s also a proud new papa, welcoming his first child Hezekiah Leventhal, born on May 2nd.

Vinny Iorio has jumped out to an early lead among the Seniors. He’s up to ~100,000 (5 times starting stack).
In his first-ever reported tournament cash, Vinny won this very event during the 2015 Spring Poker Open. Since then, he’s gone on to make two more Seniors event final table appearances, finishing 7th (2018 BPO) and 10th (2019 Spring Open).
He’s off to a strong start and well on his way to another deep run in the Seniors event!
There’s a break coming up after this level and when Level 9 begins, registration will close for the Seniors event.

After an opening raise from the cutoff, Jon Gottlieb jammed from the big blind for his last 11,800. His opponent looked him up with and was racing against Jon’s
.
The flop of changed nothing, but then the
on the turn gave Jon even more outs with an open-ended straight draw. It was not meant to be, however, as the
on the river was a brick and the pocket 4s held up to take the pot.
Jon was felted — no word on if he plans to re-enter. He won a Seniors event a couple of months ago during a WPT DeepStacks series, good for his first title and $8,272.

The Seniors event continues to grow over in the Poker Room, with 14 tables in action.
One player in the mix is Dave Barbet, trying to get back in the game after a long absence for health reasons. Originally from Philly, he now lives in Royersford, PA, and is semi-retired.
He’s had a couple of deep runs and final tables at Parx, but a cash here today in the Seniors event would be his first recorded tournament cash at Borgata, so we’re wishing Dave lot’s of luck.

Last Summer, the Seniors event saw 168 entrants try their luck and the final 18 got paid.
It was after midnight, after 14 hours of play, when they reached the final six players. A chip-based adjusted payout agreement was made with Barry Leventhal coming out on top. As the chip leader, he took 1st place and $7,352.
At the time, that was Barry’s seventh win at Borgata and third Seniors Event title. Since then he’s gone on to pick up win #8 and his fourth Seniors title in the 2019 Winter Poker Open back in January!
