Thomas Beccari

On the turn with a board of Thomas Beccari led out for 2,200,000 from the small blind.  Carlos Alvarado (button) jammed for 4,900,000 total.  Thomas tanked for a couple of minutes before folding.  He was left with about 4.7 million.

Carlos showed the saying “I don’t really know if I wanted a call or not.”  He chipped up to about 16.7 million.

On the next hand, Thomas shoved from the button and Joe Gay called from the big blind.  Thomas’ was dominated by Joe’s .  Then the board came A Q 8 K 4 giving both players two pair, but Joe’s was best.  He chipped up to somewhere around 40 million.

Thomas, who was the chip leader at the start of Day 2, was felted in 14th place, earning $5,367.

Ryan Weber

Ryan Weber got all-in on the turn with a board of and Joe Gay looked him up.  Ryan’s was good for top pair with flush draw, but Joe had for the straight.

When the board bricked on the river, Joe took the pot and Ryan was sent to the rail in 15th place ($5,367).

The final 15 players in the Almighty 500 will return at 12 noon for the finale.  Levels are 45 minutes long until they reach the final table, then they’ll go to 60 minute long levels.

The two-table redraw was done last night, so players already have their seat assignments.  The next redraw will take place when they reach the final 10 players.

Event 9: Nikoloas Platis Leads the Final 15 Almighty Stack Players

Nikolaos Platis

There was certainly no shortage of action on Day 2 of the Almighty Stack. The chip lead changed hands time after time but when the dust finally settled it was Nikolas leading the way with a massive stack of 36,250,000.

Platis vaulted the top of the counts in one of the final hands of the night sending Cory Wells to the rail in 17th place to take the chip lead.

Samuel Preis

Samuel Preis  will return in second with 27,875,000 and Joe Gay rounds out the top three Day 3 chip stacks with 22,950,000.

Just 15 players remain and they will return on Saturday July 21 at 12 P.M. to resume Day 3 play and the blinds will be 200,000/400,000 with a 50,000 ante.  One of these lucky players will take home the $124,543 first prize along with the Borgata Summer Poker Open trophy.

18th Place John Alesi ($3,721)

19th Place Tyng Low ($3,149)

Tyng Low got his last 4,340,000 all in pre-flop holding against the of George Parublev. The dealer fanned the flop and Parublev improved to bottom set. Low was left drawing dead when the hit the turn and the meaningless completed the board.

John Alesi followed right behind falling at the hands of Nikolaos Platis and will take home $3,721 for his 18th place finish. The final 17 players are now re-drawing for seats and they will finish the 13 minutes left in Level 31 before the bagging process begins.

Eric Siegel

Eric Siegel was one of the shortest stacks in the field with 850,000. He told us his double up was right around the corner and he did one better. Siegel managed to triple up holding king jack on a high jack high flop.

He has since scooped a few more pots without showdown and is right back to a healthy stack of close to 4,000,000.

Cody Wells

The Almighty Stack chip lead has changed hands plenty of times throughout Day 2 and once again we have a new chip leader. Cody Wells has caught fire after the dinner break and he is certainly no longer under the radar.

“I’ve just steadily chipped up” Wells says as he adds another pot to his mountain of chips. Wells is now playing close to 28,000,000 and he has distanced himself well out in front of the field with more than double his nearest competitor.

We are just five eliminations away from the end of Day 2 and Wells sits all alone at the top of the chip counts.
