Level 4: Blinds 200/300/300 BB Ante
When I heard “re-raise, two-thousand”, I had to stop and check out the action on Table 12. Seat 8 had opened for 600, got a call from Henry Pagliuca in the middle, a call from Dave Holmes (cutoff), then Aditya Sharma (button) announced his 3-bet.
The player to Aditya’s left (sb) called, the big blind folded, then everyone else came along, five players taking a look at the very inflammatory flop of . The first two checked to Henry, who bet 24,000 (more than twice the pot). Dave called all-in for 17,400, Aditya called all-in for 10,100, and the small blind flatted, leaving about 8,500 back.
The original opener in seat 8 opted out. After the dealer sorted out the side pots, we saw the on the turn. The only two players with chips left were the small blind and Henry, who got all their chips in for another side pot, with the small blind at risk, and the hands were tabled:
Small Blind: – top pair/top kicker, Broadway draw needing a ten to chop
Henry: – top two pair
Dave: – Broadway, the current nuts
Aditya: – bottom pair, drawing slim with two outs, the two remaining Jacks
When the completed the board, Henry cracked Dave’s nuts with a full boat, scooping all the pots. Dave, Aditya, and the small blind were all felted and headed for the door.
Henry chipped up to ~100,000, quadrupling his starting stack before the first break of the day.

Level 3: Blinds 100/200/200 Big Blind Ante
Level three has just begun and the antes have kicked in. On Day 1, the Big Blind will post the ante for the table and the BB Ante is always the same amount as the Big Blind. The BB Ante remains the same regardless of the number of players at the table.
If the player in the big blind doesn’t have enough chips to cover both, his chips go toward the Big Blind first, then any remaining chips go toward the Ante.
On Day 2 (Friday) and the final day (Saturday), the antes will return to a traditional Individual Ante.

Last year it was Zachary Schwartz who bested the field of 2,268 entrants to claim 1st place and just over $160,000 (in an adjusted payout agreement) following a five-hour heads-up battle with Larry Abrams. Despite entering the final two trailing Larry’s chip count, Zachary fought hard and these two locked horns, despite a gentleman’s agreement to adjust the top two payouts.
This year there are five starting flights compared to four last year, so we’ll see what effect that has on the turnout.
