Jackob Datashvili – 1st Place – 2019 BSPO Championship

The $1 Million Guaranteed 2019 Borgata Summer Poker Open Championship fielded 514 entrants and created a prize pool in excess of $1.2 million.  The  final table was Live Streamed on Twitch TV and Borgata’s Facebook page and the audience watched as Jackob Datashvili made the right reads and caught the cards when he needed them.  He went from next-to-last in the final table chip counts to taking home the 2019 BSPO trophy and $276,129* for 1st Place.

Edwin Ortiz – 1st Place – $1M GTD BSPO Kick-Off

The series started off with a bang with the $1 Million Guaranteed $540+$60 Deep Stack Kick-Off, which saw 1,925 entrants try their luck in six starting flights over three days.  At the final table, Edwin Ortiz held the chip lead when the final seven players opted to call it a day.  He took 1st place, the trophy, and $105,000* in a seven-way adjusted payout.

Adam Reese took 1st Place in both the Deeper Stack and Almighty Stack NLH events.

Now another Open Series is in the books and 19 Borgata Summer Poker Open trophies have new homes.  In fact, two of them went to the same home.  Adam Reese etched his name in the record books when he won two main events during this series, the $260+$40 Deeper Stack NLH ($14,805) and the $400+$50 Almighty Stack NLH ($68,806*).  The poker dealer from Pennsylvania may be considering a new career.

Ari Engel – 1st Place – Black Chip Bounty post-lim

After earning nine WSOP Circuit rings, Ari Engel finally won his first WSOP bracelet this summer in the $2,500 NLH event.  Now just a month later, Engel has added a third Borgata title to his extensive poker resume.  He won the $500+60+$100 Black Chip Bounty Deep Stack post-lim event, earning $16,881 and pushing his lifetime earnings close to $6.7 million.

John McGuinness and Eric Siegel both claimed their fourth Borgata titles during this series, joining a very short list of players who can claim that honor.  All guarantees were covered and millions in prize money was paid out to hundreds of participants!  A complete list of Main Event winners is below.

Championship: 1st Place – Jackob Datashvili ($276,129)

Jackob Datashvili – 1st Place – 2019 BSPO Championship

After four long days of play, professional poker player Jackob Datashvili has come out on top of a tough field of 514 entrants to take 1st place in the 2019 Borgata Summer Poker Open Championship.  He will collect $276,129* for 1st place and his first Borgata trophy — his first trophy of any kind, in fact.

He’s been playing tournaments for about three years and this is his first win.  It’s also by far his best live cash and about four times his previously reported total tournament earnings.

It was never a given that he would come out on top.  Starting the day fifth in chips out of six remaining players meant that the odds were against him coming out with the victory.  In the first level of play, he picked off a river bluff from chip leader Philip Chin, calling with just second pair.  His read was right, Chin had missed a flush draw, and Datashvili’s stack was starting it’s climb.

He had a slight chip lead at the first break and his stack continued to grow.  He made a flush in a blind versus blind hand with Ken Neri to collect another pot and extend his lead.  He got another big boost when he turned the nut straight in the big blind against Kenny Huynh, who paid off his 1+ million chip river bet.

When Datashvili made quad Aces holding against the pocket Kings of Philip Chin, check-raised him on the river and got paid, there was no stopping him.  He had more than half of all the chips in play with four players remaining. After a while, it became evident that the other players were playing for second place.  That honor went to Matthew Cohen, who started the day third in chips, then took out 5th place finisher Kenny Huynh and 3rd place finisher Ken Neri.  When he got heads-up with Datashvili, he made the deal that netted him $208,744* for 2nd place.

Final Table Results

Place Player Payout
1 Jackob Datashvili $276,129*
2 Matthew Cohen $208,744*
3 Ken Neri $112,181
4 Philip Chin $89,121
5 Kenny Huynh $69,801
6 Matt Marafioti $57,337
