Players Remaining: 28 of 54
Players are back after the second break and registration is officially closed on the Ladies First event. The tournament drew 54 entries and we are awaiting the payout information.
Sarah Weyer continued to lead the tournament and her 114,000 had her as the only player over six digits. Judy Bielan was sitting fine with 47,000 after the break but she didn’t last long after that. She found a monster with pocket kings but they ran into the only bigger hand with Kate Faaland holding aces. Bielan found no miracle board and was sent out while Faaland moved up to 112,400.

The Ladies Event moved into the eighth level of the day and that leaves players only 30 minutes (plus the break) to make their way to the poker room to run the prize pool higher. The tournament will pay out the last nine places but we’re waiting to see how high they get.
Stephanie Hubbard is putting herself in good position in the early stages of the tournament. The 2015 Borgata Fall Poker Open Event 1 champ has her stack up to 55,000 and sits among the leaders. Besides that big win in 2015, Hubbard also has nine Borgata final table appearances including five in Borgata Ladies Events.

The field hit 50 entries and went one better as they progressed into the next level. It’s a very nice turnout on a Sunday afternoon.
Alyson Parker is still having a great time at her table. She was facing a cutoff open from Sarah Weyer and quickly called from the button.
“I’m four bloody mary’s in,” she laughed. “Let’s go.”
Dawn Wilno called in the small blind and all three checked the flushy straighty flop. Wilno and Weyer checked the
turn and Parker tossed out 1,050. It was good enough to get two folds to move her back to a 20,000 starting stack.

The field continues to build in the Ladies Go First event and they on are on the verge of hitting the 50-entry mark with 90-minutes left to come down to register for this fun tournament.
They already topped the attendance of the Ladies Event during the recent Borgata Spring Poker Open that drew 45 entries. That final table included Angie Gambone (pictured above) and she’s back trying to repeat that feat.

Ladies Event players are back from their first break of the day and we have a leader with Sarah Weyer looking like the big stack in the room with 63,800 heading into Level 5. She caught a nice hand and pot as the break was approaching when she was three-ways to a flop.
The small blind opponent opened and Weyer raised to 2,200. Dawn Wilno released and the small blind called to the turn. The small blind player bet 3,000 and Weyer called to see the
river. The small blind checked, Weyer went to Value Town with a 6,000 bet and she picked up a call. She tabled
for a flush to top her opponent’s
.

With every new entry, we seem to have another reunion of one kind or another with the latest happening when Borgata regular Judy Bielan joined the fun. Pictures were taken, hugs were handed out, laughs were had.
Bielan is back east after a couple nice results in Las Vegas including a deep run in the 8,920-entry WSOP Giant field, a final table in the Big Low Roller at Planet Hollywood, and another final table in the Grand Poker Series Ladies Event.

There aren’t many Borgata poker regulars who don’t recognize Nancy Martin when she’s in the poker room. She’s a loyal regular who also champions the cause of getting more women involved in poker. Martin encourages her fellow grinders and keeps the games fun and hopping.
Martin also has her skills at the table. She has eight recorded tournament titles at some poker room in North Philly but her biggest score came right here when she had a runner-up finish in the 2015 Borgata Spring Poker Open Seniors event for more than $10,000. Martin’s last cash was in this room as well with a final table appearance during the most recent Borgata Spring Poker Open Ladies Event.

Not just a specialist in these fun tournaments, she also has two final tables in Pot Limit Omaha/No Limit Hold’em mix events.
Wilno is doing well again today and pushed her 20,000 starting stack up to 36,500 before noon.

The Ladies Go First field is moving along nicely and they are closing in on 40 entries after the first level. The good times are still rolling and the tournament is turning into a Barry Manilow sing-a-long in between (and sometimes during) hands.
The popular singer/songwriter/heartthrob just finished up a two-show set over the weekend and he’s still fresh in everyone’s head.

After a short delay to get everyone settled in their seats, cards are in the air for the “Ladies Go First” event to kick off the 2018 Borgata Summer Poker Open.
They are already having a great time and some of them began the day early with a little champagne brunch. Nancy Martin, Marguerite Spagnuolo, Alyson Parker, Dawn Wilno, Karen Donnelly, Pat Knoll, and Gina Auletta did a little pre-gaming before coming down to the poker room for the tournament. It’s shaping up to be a fun day of poker.
For our gentlemen players, have no fear because we have some action set up for you as well. There will be various levels of sit’n’goes running all day long with buy-ins of $60+$15, $100+$15. and $250+30.
