Gary Kosakowski continued his comeback and doubled up in a big pot holding AQQ9 against Anna’s AQ87. The board read 8 5 4 J 2 and Gary’s pocket Queens were good. After that pot, he had more than 1 million chips and Anna was down to only 240,000.
It wasn’t long before all the chips went in on a flop of . Anna had 4322 for a pair of ducks with open-ended straight draw. Gary tabled 8855 for trip 5s. The board completed with and Gary improved to a full house to claim the final pot of the tournament.
The final two agreed on adjusted payouts and Gary will take $9,000 and the trophy. For her runner-up finish, Anna will collect $7,867.
This is Gary’s first Borgata title, but he came very close last September during the 2016 Borgata Poker Open. He got heads-up in the Big Omaha event with an 8:1 chip lead, but came up short and had to settle for 2nd place.
Today he’s done the same thing to Anna. At one point during their heads-up battle, she had him 12:1 in chips, but he battled back to win it.
